Meet William Pengly

We were lucky enough to have Will join the Unconditional Finance team about a year ago, as he provides our team with extensive knowledge of the various processes and procedures within banks. This knowledge allows him to tailor our client’s loan applications, ensuring a smooth process from submission to unconditional approval.

Outside of work, Will spends his much-deserved time off reading crime and mystery books, playing PlayStation and binging TV shows. He is very family-orientated and loves spending quality time with his loved ones.

More About William

What inspired you to become a broker/analyst/manager/officer, and how did you get started in the industry?

I started my career in banking in 2011 with Macquarie Bank. I spent a couple of years finding my footing in the banking world before moving into a home loans operations role in 2013 within Macquarie. Over the next six years, I built my knowledge, honed my skills, and developed a real passion for the industry. After leaving Macquarie, I worked with a broker for 1.5 years before joining Unconditional Finance in early 2022. Over the past 2.5 years, I’ve expanded my skillset and knowledge as an analyst and have now progressed into becoming an accredited broker.

If you could describe your work style in three words, what would they be?

Efficient, detail-oriented, logical

Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most people don’t know?

I used to play the trumpet in the school band.

If you could share a meal with anyone from any era, who would you choose and why?

J.K. Rowling, as I love *Harry Potter* and would love to talk to her about how she imagined and created such an incredible story and world.

Can you share a story where you helped a client (it doesn’t matter how small or big) that makes you smile?

I helped a client who was struggling to secure financing after being rejected by multiple lenders. We restructured their application, addressed their concerns, and secured approval for their loan. The sheer relief and joy in their voice when they found out they could purchase their dream home made my day and reminded me why I do what I do.

What’s one piece of advice you always give to first-time homebuyers or to investors?

Be patient and trust the process. Buying property can be overwhelming, but staying calm, asking questions, and leaning on your broker will help you navigate it successfully.

What’s your favourite way to unwind after work or during the weekend?

Playing PS5 or reading a good book.
